Gaining and maintaining a level of fitness that means we are happy with our body, mind and soul is a state to which many people aspire but few achieve.  I know this because I was one of those people for many years.

We all recognise now that exercising more and eating well will ultimately mean we will look and feel good so why it is so difficult to do something that is, in essence, pleasurable?  The problem for most people is that they are approaching fitness programmes from the wrong angle.  Our bodies and minds have slipped into an almost constant stress mode where we think that only by punishing ourselves can we achieve the atonement for our stressful and over-indulged lives. This is not a helpful state of mind as I eventually discovered.

Having dipped in and out of exercise (ju jitsu / running / gym) for some time, I started looking for something that would work my cardiovascular system as well as building strength and suppleness in my muscles and bones. It also needed to be effective, efficient, not too time consuming and above all enjoyable.  It was then that I discovered training with kettlebells.  As I started to yield results I began to study the methods behind the training and realized that not only was this the way forward for me but that it could also work for  many other people.

After much training and studying I became qualified with the International KettleBell and Fitness Federation, the world’s foremost authority on kettlebells.

If you are an 8 stone, 16 year old female or a 22 stone, 60 year old male and are tempted to stop reading at this point – don’t!  Despite their somewhat fearsome reputation I can assure you that whoever you are, whatever your size, age, gender or fitness experience, you will not only be able to work with kettlebells but will find they become part of the most effective and easily maintained work out you have ever tried.

The Element ethos goes literally “back to basics” taking your body through movements and drills that it was designed to do naturally.  The “state of the art” gyms with rows of computerised equipment do not necessarily offer our bodies or our minds the exercise that nature planned – we strive to provide the alternative.
